Reposted from @retro_surf_series This photo has been floating around “the internets” a bit ..but nobody really explains what it was all about. This was in the 1978 Sept. Surfer Mag “Extra” back page section challenging anyone to stack more surfboards than this. Corky Carroll (who was a Surfer Mag staffer then) got together with Wind An’Sea Surfboards shop (which used to be between 5th and 6th St. on PCH) and with help from the Paskowitz crew.. stacked 40 boards and submitted it to Guinness Book of World Records.. Don’t know if anyone took them up on the challenge but I think much more could be stacked. Especially in the cheesy haphazard way they loaded these on there and with ropes .. and the bug looks like the back tires are rubbing. Let us have a new challenge to cheer up these strange times.. I bet Katin can top this.. @katin_surfshop they have some very ingenious workers at that shop.. Let’s have a surf shop challenge.. who can stack the most boards? Photo by Guy Motil ..p.s. check out the background of the old Huntington PCH lineup with the Capri Bar that was in the Jacks Surfboards building, hidden Greek surfboards shop behind the stacked boards, Things for your Head shop, then Infinity Surfboards and El Don the only business still there today! Classic @jackssurfboards @hsssurf @chuckdentsurfcenter @rockinfighb @17thstboardshop I know a few of these shops have more than 40 boards that could come out of the rafters and break records! Double p.s. Just imagine the amazing classic vehicle that Mark Reeder @speederreeder could stack on with that beautiful collection at HSS.. @quiksilver @benny_big  - #regrann
